Inspired by "garagiste" field blends from the Prohibition era, Dave Phinney crafted the first vintage of The Prisoner in the late 1990s. Through the years, The Prisoner Wine Company has sought out distinct vineyard sites capable of producing the beautiful, rich, ripe fruit and full mouthfeel that has become our hallmark. These sites-many of them legacy vineyards dry-farmed from pre-Prohibition plantings-remain a critical part of The Prisoner Wine Company's "family" of growers. Our winemaking team works with a family of growers to source a diverse variety of grapes from premier vineyards throughout California. The resulting wines are interesting blends of distinct quality and character.
Unshackled Rose is a bright and crisp rose wine featuring citrusy aromas with hints of strawberry and melon. The flavors of grapefruit, tangerine and lemon offer lively acidity and result in a refreshing rosé with a crisp finish. Pinot Noir, syrah, grenache, and mourvedre grapes from the north and central coast combine to create a blush wine that breaks free from convention. Pair this rose wine with roasted beet salad, goat cheese and pistachios or green olive tapenade served with petits toasts. Chill this wine bottle for up to two hours prior to serving.
